AICPIN stands for All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers. It is a monthly measure of the average change in prices paid by industrial workers for a basket of goods and services. The Labour Bureau of India publishes AICPIN data every month, which is then used to calculate Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees.
The Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees is calculated using the 12-month average of AICPIN data. The formula used is:
DA% = [(Average of AICPIN for last 12 months - 115.76) / 115.76] × 100Calculate expected DA using latest AICPIN data

AICPIN data is published monthly by the Labour Bureau of India. The data is based on the base year 2016=100. The Labour Bureau releases the AICPIN data with a delay of approximately 1-2 months after the reference month.
