AICPIN Index - All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers

What is AICPIN?

AICPIN stands for All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers. It is a monthly measure of the average change in prices paid by industrial workers for a basket of goods and services. The Labour Bureau of India publishes AICPIN data every month, which is then used to calculate Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees.

How is AICPIN Used for DA Calculation?

The Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees is calculated using the 12-month average of AICPIN data. The formula used is:

DA% = [(Average of AICPIN for last 12 months - 115.76) / 115.76] × 100
