Deserving candidates will further be elevated to the following ranks under the promotion criteria.
Criteria for being Eligible
This entry is only open to the unmarried males individuals.
You must have passed class 12 with at least 60% of marks in PCM from a recognized board.
You must have appeared in the JEE Mains exam of 2025.
Your age should be in b/w 16.5 yrs and 19.5 yrs on 1 July 2026.
Your date of birth should be in b/w 2 January 2007 and 1 January 2010 .
Must satisfy medical and physical standards set for officer entry.

Promotion Criteria
Lieutenant – Promoted on commission
Captain – After completing 2 years of service
Major – After completing 6 years of service
Lieutenant Colonel – After completing 13 years of service
Colonel (Time Scale) – After completing 26 years of service
Colonel – On selection basis, subject to fulfilling the required service conditions
Brigadier – On selection
Major General – On selection
Lieutenant General / HAG Scale – On selection
HAG + Scale – Eligible for 1/3rd of total strength of Lieutenant Generals
VCOAS / Army Commander / Lieutenant General (NFSG) – On selection
COAS (Chief of Army Staff) – Top rank, based on appointment
Pay according to posts
The salary starts at about ₹56,100 per month for a Lieutenant and increases to around ₹2,50,000 per month for the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
Other ranks fall in between, such as:
Captain (~₹61,300), Major (~₹69,400), Lieutenant Colonel (~₹1,21,200), Colonel (~₹1,30,600), Brigadier (~₹1,39,600), Major General (~₹1,44,200), and Lieutenant General (~₹1,82,200). The top generals and Army Chief receive a fixed salary without allowances.
